Personal Description:
Fáilte romhat! I’m a qualified primary school teacher based in Kildare, passionate about helping young learners build confidence and skills in Maths, Irish, and Literacy. My values which guide my teaching include kindness, patience and enthusiasm.
I hold a First Class Honours degree in the Professional Master of Education (Primary) from Maynooth University. Prior to this, I completed a four-year undergraduate degree in International Business and Irish, also graduating with First Class Honours.
I have a particular interest in Maths — my postgraduate thesis focused on Maths education, and I enjoy teaching it through play-based learning and the use of concrete materials. I aim to make learning engaging, accessible, and fun.
Tutoring Experience:
I have extensive experience teaching across various primary school levels, including Senior Infants, First Class, and Sixth Class. I’ve also provided one-to-one support in special education settings, tailoring lessons to meet individual student needs.
I tutor Irish at primary level, focusing on oral skills and grammar in a playful way. I also support students with literacy skills — including reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension — to build a strong foundation for their academic success. I have experience using the Hegerty and Jolly Phonics literacy programmes. When teaching maths, I regularly revise content learned to build mathematical fluency. I use the New Primary Maths Curriculum in my teaching and deliver maths lessons with a clear focus that are active and engaging which help children to develop a positive attitude towards maths.
Approach to Grinds:
My tutoring sessions are hands-on, interactive, and tailored to each student’s learning style. I believe that children learn best when they can see, touch, and explore concepts, so I always incorporate concrete materials and playful activities to make lessons engaging and memorable.
Clear explanations are key — I break down new topics step-by-step, ensuring students fully understand before moving on. To keep motivation high and lessons enjoyable, I use educational games and activities that reinforce learning in a fun, stress-free way.
This approach not only helps build strong foundational skills in Maths, Irish, and Literacy but also boosts confidence and a genuine love for learning.
