Personal Description:

Secondary school Irish teacher based in Cork. 9+ years of experience, with a First Class Honours degree in Irish and physical education from University College Cork, Garda Vetted, and actively registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland.

Tutoring Experience:

Currently teaching Gaeilge at Junior Cycle (ordinary & higher level) and Senior Cycle (ordinary & higher level). Experience teaching Leaving Cert foundation Irish and Leaving Certificate Applied. I have brought my own group of higher level students from 1st year through to their Leaving Certificate exams. Over the years, I have helped students achieve outstanding results, including Distinctions at Junior Cycle and H1s in Leaving Cert, while also supporting others to confidently maintain Higher Level and secure H6s and above. My goal is always to help students achieve their personal best.

I have also worked as a corrector for the State Examinations Commission at Junior Cycle. My particular strengths lie in teaching the T2 syllabus at Junior Cycle, Irish grammar, poetry, and oral preparation for the 40% Leaving Certificate Irish oral exam.

Approach to Grinds:

In my grinds, I provide students with clear, detailed notes, and work with them to build their confidence and skill by integrating key phrases and vocabulary into their own writing style. However, I understand that every student learns differently, so lessons are tailored to suit individual learning preferences, including more structured, rote-based approaches where needed.

My aim is to create a supportive, student-centered learning environment that fosters genuine engagement with the language and helps each student reach their full potential.
