Information About Ben - Edinburgh teacher

Personal Description:

Hi! My name is Ben, and I am a professional drummer originally from the north east of Scotland, now based in Edinburgh.
I have been playing drums for over 20 years and been working professionally in the industry since graduating from university in 2013, regularly playing live and studio session work. The past few years have seen me touring across the UK, Europe and Australia & New Zealand with a number of different artists.
I have performed at many local and international music festivals, including Maifield Derby (GER), Woodford Folk Festival (AUS), Auckland Folk Festival (NZ), Pitchfork Festival (FRA) and Big City Festival (SCO).
More locally, I can also be found performing at venues/clubs around Edinburgh - such as the Jazz Bar - as well as playing at weddings and functions.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a decade of experience in one-on-one instrumental tuition, working at Junior Napier (a course for high school aged musicians running out of Edinburgh Napier University music department) and Portobello Music School.

Tutoring Approach:

In my time as a drummer and musician I have developed many transferable skills that I look forward to being able to pass on to any prospective students of all ages and abilities. I am a firm believer that there are things everybody should know or have a grasp of, but that the primary importance is to help students unlock their own creativity and find their own voice on the drums (or any instrument).
With that, my approach begins as a 'cover-all' while getting to know the student, before becoming more tailored to their individual musical tastes and preferences after a few lessons.
