Personal Description:
As an experienced singer, songwriter, performer and multi-instrumentalist, I understand the frustrations and hurdles you may face when finding your voice.
After 18 years of studying/practicing music (performing at festivals like Glastonbury, The Great Escape and supporting Ben Howard) I now hold a BA Degree in Music, an Extended Diploma in Music Performance, and have gained 5 years of Vocal Coaching experience.
If you're looking to improve your vocal technique, build confidence, or think you could benefit from guided lessons to help find your own unique vocal style, I will work with you to reach your personal singing goals, in a comfortable environment.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced vocalist, we will develop and nurture your voice, and find vocal ease and self expression through singing.
Tutoring Experience:
I've taught privately to students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Some lessons focus purely on singing (from beginner to advanced, of all genres) while other lessons incorporate guitar accompaniment, songwriting, or music production.
I've also taught at multiple primary & secondary schools, and as Pop Specialist Singing Teacher at Blundell's School. Because of this, I've completed multiple safeguarding courses, trauma training, and I own a full extended DBS. I also have experience working within music therapy singing groups and with SEN students.
Over the years I’ve provided multiple courses and workshops for adults, at places like The Bristol Folkhouse and music festivals like EoTR. There is no age restriction to private singing lessons, and lessons are tailored to suit your individual goals and experience.
Tutoring Approach:
Amongst many things, lessons will include:
- Understanding vocal mechanics
- Warm up and vocal health
- Breath support, and understanding the connection between the body and the voice
- Vocal technique, performance, and tone
- Strengthening the voice
- Live performance coaching, and voice recording technique
- Develop your "mix" voice, and smooth out bridges
- Use of resonators, including the Soft Palate
- Vocal Accompaniment with Guitar or Piano
- Work towards grades and other goals
