Personal Description:
I studied guitar and saxophone at university, including doing a Master's Degree in guitar performance, I've recently finished my PhD in the ergonomics of playing guitar (yes, I'm a doctor of music!). I've gigged in various bands and done many solo concerts. Currently I'm performing with The Blox (a tribute to Ian Dury and the Blockheads) but I still mainly perform solo.
Tutoring Experience:
I've been teaching since 1996, working with all levels and all ages. My students often tell me I'm patient, this is because I appreciate how hard it is to learn to play an instrument.
Tutoring Approach:
Playing music should be fun, but there is also a lot of repetition and observation involved. I've developed a teaching method that progresses logically, building on what was learned before and taking different approaches when necessary to suit the needs and struggles of the individual student.
