Personal Description:

I play and teach clarinet, flute, sax and music theory. I am based in South London and perform accross the UK. I graduated with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a Masters degree and a Concert Recital Diploma, and I am a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music. I perform professionally in orchestras, theatres and bands.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught music since 2010 and have held posts at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Wandsworth Music Academy, St Cecilia’s School, Coloma Convent School, Kingston Music Service, and Pembroke Academy of Music. My students include beginners up to post-grade 8, adults and children, instrumental lessons and music theory, and coaching youth orchestras. I have years of experience successfully preparing pupils for scholarship auditions and graded exams, for those who choose to take them. I have a clear, up-to-date, enhanced DBS certificate and am trained in child safeguarding to level 2.

I am also busy as a performer, enjoying a varied career playing the clarinet, saxophone and flute in orchestras and theatre bands. Recent work includes performing on the UK tours of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chicago and Sister Act, alongside work in London's theatres.

Tutoring Approach:

I play and teach in a variety of styles including classical, jazz and contemporary. Students learn to play both by ear and from sheet music. I also teach improvisation. My approach is tailored to the needs of each unique student: the learning can be structured around preparing for exams if that is the pupil's wish, or around personal targets. I will help students to learn repertoire for their own enjoyment, for exams, or for performance with amateur orchestras and bigbands.
