I am a qualified and experienced language teacher with a PhD degree in phonetics and linguistics from UCL. I speak Mandarin and Taiwanese natively as well as Japanese and English fluently. Since I am a mother of two young children, I would like to teach locally in the Wimbledon area. A discount is available for students who are able to travel to my flat.

Tutoring Approach

After identifying students' specific needs, I normally begin a lesson with a warm-up activity to let students know what will be covered in the session. During lessons, I tend to encourage students to respond and work through problems together by supplementing and correcting students' output. Appropriate practices are exercised to ensure students' grasp of a language pattern before moving on to the next task. Ten minutes before the lesson ends, I begin wrapping up the lesson by inviting students to summarise what we've learnt and assign relevant homework accordingly.
