I am a geography specialist able to offer geography tutoring up to A Level and other humanities subjects to GCSE along with Key Stage 3 English.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced semi-retired teacher with best part of four decades in Secondary Education with the majority as Head of Geography/Humanities. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and am subscribed to the DBS Update Service. I am still work in a school that I have long association with as an occasional cover teacher and 1 to 1 tutor. I have current experience in 1 to 1 geography tuition in AQA and Edexcel A and B GCSE 1-9 specifications, AQA, Edexcel and OCR A Level along with CIE A Level and IGCSE specifications.

Tutoring Approach

My main aim in tutoring is to take the fear factor out geography in particular. To encourage tutees to develop a growth mindset to help them achieve and exceed their target grades. I like to take a more holistic approach to tutoring as in my experience success in one area, for example geography, can have a
positive impact across a range of subjects. I put a strong emphasis on developing exam technique and revision skills and ensuring students have a sound knowledge, understanding and application base in preparation for their exams.
