A graduate from Durham University with a first class MMath degree, I am an enthusiastic, dedicated individual with a love for sharing my knowledge of maths. Specialising in GCSE preparation (exam boards AQA, Edexcel, OCR), I aim to show students that maths is not a subject to be intimidated by, but rather one that they can both enjoy and excel at.
While at University, I volunteered with a one-to-one tutoring programme, during which I tutored a handful of students in GCSE maths over a period of nine months. It was a great to see their confidence and their grades improve.
After university (2022-2023) I tutored on an online platform for a period of one year. I had three regular students in the US, who I taught high-school and SAT level maths (the equivalent of GCSE and A-Level) and one regular GCSE maths student - I found working with this student particularly rewarding because she was repeating her maths GCSE and began with low confidence, so watching her understanding and self belief grow throughout the year until she was mastering and actually enjoying the content was fantastic. Following this, I did some private face to face GCSE tutoring for around six months.
I like to keep the style of my sessions flexible - working with the student to find and apply the learning approaches and methods that suit them best is a great way to help them reach their full potential. Whether the student learns best through reading, writing, listening or visual aids, and whether they are looking for school-style lessons by topic, help stepping through problems, a focus on past papers or any variation or combination of these, I will give my all in helping them to reach their targets.
