I am a fully qualified chemistry teacher registered with the General Teaching Council of Scotland. In that capacity I have undergone a full enhanced disclosure check. I am available for tutoring in the Glasgow Central, West End and South Side areas.

I have been a teacher for over 20 years and prior to that spent almost 20 years in industry as a metallurgical chemist.
I am a final exam marker for the Scottish Qualifications Authority at both National 5 and Higher level with several years experience in that regard.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught chemistry at every level from National 4 to Advanced Higher. I have several years experience as a tutor both working with young people on a one to one basis and with groups of adults in a different context.

Tutoring Approach

I have a relaxed, patient style of tutoring. I go at the learners own pace. I am aware that chemistry is not the easiest of subjects and am at great pains to ensure the learner feels free to make mistakes within a supportive and encouraging environment. I find the use of humour lightens the atmosphere and boosts confidence by enabling the learner to feel at ease.
