My name is Helen. I am passionate about learning across the curriculum and have continued with my own learning beyond university; completing a variety of courses and qualifications in a variety of subjects such as Early Mathematical Development, Spanish and IT. In addition, I enjoy keeping fit and am a member of a local community group involved in the development of local woodland.
I have 15 years of teaching experience and have taught children from 4-11 years of age. During my teaching career I was part of the Numbers Count Programme, providing children with additional support in mathematics. I also have experience of teaching other subjects, including phonics.
I have previous experience of tutoring pupils from ages 6-11 years of age.I believe in personalised learning, drawing on the child's interests where possible. I also feel that tutoring should be fun and provide lots of opportunities to practise skills through games. For me, tutoring involves developing the whole child so that they are a confident learner and can identify their own strengths and difficulties. I enjoy sharing ideas with parents.
