I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with 30 years experience. I believe that all children have a natural desire to learn. However sometimes children lose confidence in their ability to learn. I am committed to helping children restore their confidence in order to achieve their potential in becoming independent learners.
I have experience teaching Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. I have worked with children who have ADHD, ADD and ASD on a one to one basis and in a class setting. I have prepared children for the Year One Phonics Screening, the year 4 Multiplication Tables Check and for Year 6 SATs.
I have a friendly and informal approach to teaching. During our first session I will take the time to get to know you and your child. I will build up a picture of your child's interests, strengths, and areas where you feel they may need extra support. There will be some short assessment tasks to complete during this session. These will be delivered as activities and games rather than as tests! We will discuss your child's ambitions as well as their short term and long term aims. All this information will enable me to develop an individual scheme of work specially tailored to your child's needs. Building confidence and raising self esteem is at the core of my teaching values.
