I do maths and science in my day job. I have extreme patience for teaching and can help with quite a lot of school subjects. Maths was my schoolboy hobby. I've been interested in maths and science since since I was at Primary school. Call me an eternal student if you like.

Guitar is also a huge passion of mine. I play lots of styles of guitar in bands, and enjoy to play violin too. Other hobbies are cycling, comedy, nature, and foreign languages. I do not own a TV.

Tutoring Experience

Work in a University by day (for 14 years) teaching a range of maths workshops and experimental science in laboratories. I have also taught Maths and Physics in Schools for 6 years and covered French and Chemistry classes for teacher absences. I have privately tutored maths and science for over 20 years and have worked in a French school.

Tutoring Approach

The approach depends on what is required or desired by the student.

If the student just wants to pass an upcoming exam then we could focus on learning about topics for efficient accumulation of marks and confidence building.

If the exam is months away then we can focus on topics in more depth. Maths is so much easier when the topics are fully understood.

I prefer to do face to face tuition in the students home. I'm not a fan of purely online lessons. However, a mixture of face to face lessons in combination with students sending me work for marking and feedback seems to work really well.
