I am a friendly and enthusiastic Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ A Level English teacher with a wealth of tried and tested bespoke resources for both A Level and GCSE Englishes. Having led the English Department at Greenhead College, Huddersfield, I have extensive experience in supporting students across a range of abilities. I provide additional online and in person one-to-one support for students to supplement their school and college studies. Fast-track one-year A Level and GCSE English Language courses are also available for students on alternative learning pathways. Optional summer early-bird tutorials begin in August, to provide students with a head start before term begins.
Tutoring Experience
I have taught English for 20 years and currently teach A Level English Language and A Level Combined English, in addition to GCSE English Language and English Literature.
My subject specialism is English Language. I am an AQA examiner and Last year 95% of my A'Level students attained A* to B grades.
Tutoring Approach
My key approach is to teach through context, so you will be learning through the study of written and spoken texts, rather than learning abstract concepts without practical application. We will be working with an extensive range of resources, including past papers, mark schemes and model answers and you’ll receive detailed feedback on all tasks.
