I took early retirement 6 years ago from deputy headship at a local special needs school where I taught for 16 years and where I continued to teach maths at GCSE foundation level and Entry Level for an additional year. I am a qualified primary school teacher with a 2.1 degree in psychology and a passion for unlocking learning potential.
Sixteen years teaching in a special school for students with complex needs including students on the ASD spectrum, students with Downs Syndrome and students with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
As a strong advocate of the nurture approach to learning I believe that deep learning can only take place when a student feels safe and secure so creating a relaxed environment through games and fun activities is key to my approach.
