Professionally qualified Specialist SEND Teacher with over 20 years experience in teaching and assessing SpLD learners with or without a diagnosis of Dyslexia; from Early Years/KS1 to KS3. Registered with the British Dyslexia Association and holder of AMBDA/APC status. This means that I am fully qualified to teach students with SpLD/Dyslexia and to undertake diagnostic assessment. I am sympathetic, dedicated, and committed and ensure that learning is fun and that every lesson is a successful one!

Tutoring Experience

Having had over 25 years of experience teaching SpLD students and having undertaken intensive training to support their needs, I am fully qualified to deliver a comprehensive programme of support to all students with a specific learning difficulty - dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD/ADHD symptoms etc.
I have worked in a variety of different settings including Early Years, Primary and Secondary schools and Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). I have gained a wealth of knowledge from working with many different students over the years and through regularly attending a variety of seminars every year in order to continue my professional development.

Tutoring Approach

Being a fully qualified SpLD teacher, I ensure all methods of teaching utilise key learning pathways to the brain, ie multi-sensory and that they follow a systematic, cumulative, and structured approach to learning. All support lessons are individualised and designed according to the child's needs whilst also looking to promote their self-esteem and confidence. This is the key to their success!
I hold a current DBS(CBS)Enhanced which is updated automatically every year and am happy to travel to you within the areas of Littlehampton and surrounding districts of Worthing.
Although I tutor privately at clients' homes, I am also insured to tutor children at their own schools (with school approval). This can often be a more appropriate teaching solution, especially for those children who have a busy home life. (Some Saturday mornings are possible but these are mostly reserved for dyslexia diagnostic assessments. For this arrangement, please contact me separately or through the Local Offer website).
