As Head of English, GCSE examiner and PGCE-qualified teacher with 15 years’ experience in both independent and state schools, I bring insider knowledge of how exams are marked, so my students know exactly how to gain marks and avoid common pitfalls. On average, my students improve by two GCSE grades, a testament to the success of my step-by-step approach which gives them a clear path to follow. From my experience, this clarity builds confidence and maximises performance.
I have been in the education sector for over 15 years, teaching and leading in both independent and state schools, and now lead a successful English department. As a tutor, I work with students aiming for a secure pass as well as high achievers seeking the precision needed to reach a Grade 9. My experience has given me a deep understanding of the different barriers students face, and I provide the targeted support that is often impossible in a busy classroom. My service includes tailored written feedback and access to high-quality GCSE revision resources.
Warm, patient and encouraging, I create a learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions and take risks. My tutoring sits within a tailored learning plan, written for each student after an initial assessment, and every session focuses on a specific skill that we develop and build over time, directly linked to the relevant exam board specification.

My service includes personalised written feedback and access to high-quality GCSE revision resources.
Ultimately, my aim is to build strong relationships and encourage students to take ownership of their learning, so sessions are both enjoyable and highly productive.
Small Group Sessions
Alongside 1:1 tuition, I offer small group sessions (maximum of 4 students) for those who enjoy collaborative learning. These sessions focus on targeted GCSE exam skills and allow students to share ideas while benefiting from expert guidance. They are a cost-effective option for regular support and can be combined with occasional 1:1 lessons for personalised feedback.
