I have a lot of life experience (exploration, travel, a variety of work), 4 confident and accomplished grown-up daughters, and live in a country cottage renovated by myself and partner.
In recent years I have carried out voluntary work assisting a remote tribal group in the Upper Amazon

Tutoring of English as a foreign Language in London (1993) and in Peru (2015)
I tutor by focussing upon the specific needs of the student. Many students have 'blocks' to learning and i use my considerable experience and gentle manner to help them gain confidence in their own ability. Due to my wide variety of interests i aim to make learning enjoyable and interesting. I consider that students often learn more quickly when examples from their own experience or locality can be related to the topic studied. In Maths i focus on making it as relevant as possible to the learner and where some syllabus material may not seem useful give a good idea of how it might have practical application. It is my aim to help the student make noticeable progress in their studies and encourage their own interest in learning.
