Nayan is one of the leading teachers in the country who is currently working at an OFSTED rated OUTSTANDING college having previously worked at another OFSTED rated OUTSTANDING college. During these 13 years Nayan worked with over 50 fellow outstanding practitioners and amalgamated the best techniques for teaching every topic and sub topic, the best techniques for revising, and the best techniques for sailing through an exam. Over this time Nayan taught on various courses including GCSE, A level Maths and Further Maths and had numerous roles including head of A level Maths.
In addition Nayan has been an examiner for several years which allows him to know exactly how a question must be answered for the student to gain all the marks. Over the last decade Nayan's students have achieved some of the best results in the country.
Nayan has over 10,000 hours of combined teaching in a classroom, teaching one to one online or in person.
Nayan is a very patient and approachable tutor who is able to explain a method in different ways if it doesn’t click with the student first time. Nayan’s supportive approach puts students at ease so they feel comfortable enough to say when they don’t understand something. Rather than telling students what the answer is, he will ask scaffolding questions until the student is able to answer the question themselves. This enables the students to learn long term.
Nayan believes the actual maths needed to answer most of the questions on a maths paper is relatively straightforward, but it’s the understanding of what the question wants you to do that’s the tricky bit. It is only if you understand the reason behind the methods, not just how to do them, that you can truly adapt to answering any questions given. With this in mind Nayan ensures that students understand the reason behind each method with a deep understanding so they can apply their knowledge even to questions that are different from past papers.
Nayan will cover the whole syllabus meaning students are going in to an exam fully prepared and with the chance of scoring 100% on the paper. Initially Nayan will assess the current knowledge of the student keeping track of which topics are strong and which need guidance and work on content filling any gaps in the student’s knowledge. Once this is done the focus will switch to exam practice.
Nayan will give weekly homework consolidating current and past topics and review this in the next lesson.
