I'm a 48 year old tutor with a love of Maths and Science. I love teaching and enjoy seeing the immediate results that can be gained by students through one to one lessons. I live in Crewe with my wife and 4 children and enjoy hiking, solving puzzles and watching Formula 1, football and films in my spare time (if I have any!)

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring Maths and Science at GCSE and A level for nearly 10 years. After 6 years of teaching Science and English as a foreign language in an international school I returned to England to do my PGCE in 2009. I then spent a year as a supply teacher before deciding that one to one tutoring was where my skills were best suited and have loved it ever since.

Tutoring Approach

When teaching I try to keep things as simple as possible and follow the same lesson structure for every lesson: Review, Teach, Practice, Questions. However I also try to be a flexible as possible and if a student hasn't understood something from the previous lesson or needs to learn something different then I'm willing to change and adapt to fit the student's needs. Tutoring is a serious business and I'm not there to waste, but I still try and have a bit of fun with students and spend some time to get to know them and what makes them tick.
