HI I am Poppy, I value tutoring as it allows me to tailor my teaching method and content to your needs! I have an immensely varied teaching experience spanning over 20 years with different ages, abilities , subjects and needs. Tutoring is my passion; I value the working relationships I enjoy with my students and am both proud and excited to see the growth in their confidence, knowledge and ability throughout our time together.

I received a Distinction for my Masters in Educational Psychology at The Institute of Education, UCL so am particularly interested in helping children adopt strategies that will help them become confident, independent learners and identifying ways to help them achieve this successfully. I have a vast experience working with students with different SEND requirements. However, I have also worked with extremely able students and find both inspiring.
I am a qualified Secondary and TEFL teacher with over 20 years experience teaching all ages and levels, from Reception to 'A' Level, in British and International schools. I have tutored privately for international students abroad and helped them gain places at prestigious schools in England. Additionally, I have tutored for 11+ exams, public school entrance exams and GCSE's.

My daughter started her lesson with Poppy around 1 1/2 month ago. Before meeting with her, she was saying she hated math and that she was very bad at it. She is now looking forward to her lessons as she finds them great fun. Poppy is a great tutor and my daughter really enjoys her sessions. She really engages with her and provides useful homework to consolidate the knowledge. I have tutored privately as well as a class teacher in both secondary and primary schools. In addition I have worked as a Booster teacher, Intervention teacher and GCSE exam revision teacher. In general, this involved identifying students' areas of weakness in English and Maths and helping them acquire the tools they need. I am very experienced with filling in the gaps that have become obstacles to student's academic success.
I am currently looking to teach KS2-3 English and Maths for those students who are struggling to understand key concepts as well as those who are flourishing and want to be stretched or accelerated in their pursuits. I make learning stimulating, challenging and fun whilst enabling students to gain confidence, grabbing their toolbox of strategies to tackle any obstacles they encounter.
