I'm a First Class Graduate of Cambridge Law and studied at Queens' College. I completed the LNAT in 2020 receiving a score of 30 (the average reportable score in the cohort being 20.8). Having previously mentored students from non-traditional backgrounds in their transition to studying at Cambridge, I'm familiar with students' concerns when tackling the admissions process. I intend to use my knowledge of the process and experience with the Cambridge Tripos to help students do the best they can to ace the admissions cycle.
I have previously mentored students from non-traditional backgrounds in their transition to studying at Cambridge, so have experience responding to students' queries and concerns in the moment. I have experience providing university admissions preparation, including personal statement workshopping and mock interviews to prepare students for the interview stage. I have extensive experience in the role of tutor, specifically teaching English as a foreign language via online teaching. My tutoring style is adapted to the preferences of each student.
My approach to preparing students for interview is to ensure they are in the best possible position to not only defend their ideas from criticism, but also to reshape them on the basis of this criticism. Remaining malleable and open to challenge is in my eyes central to doing well at interview, showing receptiveness to evolving thought rather than remaining loyal to an idea that you may be shown in the moment has its pitfalls. To build up this mentality, my admissions tutees will spend sessions defending their personal statements from rigorous criticism, as well as looking at ethical and moral dilemmas that may come up at interview, and will be encouraged to rethink and revise their answers as they go.
With regards to the admissions process, I can provide:
- Personal statement guidance and workshopping
- Interview workshops, including mock questions and feedback
- LNAT sessions, including practice questions for both the multiple choice and essay components of the assessment, and feedback for each.
Session length is typically 1 hour.
