Ruth was very prompt and efficient with communication unfortunately we were unable to go ahead with planned tutoring as we need English language Alevel support not literature which is Ruth’s area of expertise

Working with Ruth has been incredibly helpful- she has helped me polish my essay writing skills. She's helped me organize and clearly explain all of my ideas in a coherent, logical way, which has also made me more confident in my English skills. I'm very thankful for all of the offered support, which has allowed me to improve both my essays and my understanding of all the texts within the course.

We had Ruth help our daughter for a few weeks before her A Level English Lit. exams. She was fantastic. Gave my daughter the confidence boost she needed and also gave some great advice in and around the exams. Thank you Ruth.

My daughter started sessions with Ruth at beginning of upper 6th . Her confidence was rock bottom and panic was setting in. Ruth was fabulous . Very knowledgeable in her subject , very accommodating to try and fit in sessions . We ended up doing 3 sessions a week and my daughter enjoyed every one . She went into her a level exams feeling very well prepared . We couldn’t have done it with out you ! Thank you Ruth !xx

We are very grateful to Ruth for her dedication and support over the past five months. Her teaching has significantly boosted Tara's confidence in English literature. Tara felt comfortable asking for help, which is a big step for her, and Ruth’s kind and encouraging approach made that possible. We also appreciate her going above and beyond by answering questions outside of lessons and carefully marking essays. Her flexibility with scheduling was also very helpful. Ruth has been a great teacher for my son and helped boost his confidence and knowledge in his GCSE exam year. She is organised and prepares lots of material for each lesson and takes him through how to maximise exam marks with his answers. He was very uncertain about his English skills, particularly with English language and Ruth has helped him learn how to structure answers and also given him a clearer idea of what examiners are looking for. He did well in his recent mock exams and the lessons with Ruth definitely helped him prepare better.

Ruth has made a big difference in our son's understanding and confidence around the English Language GCSE syllabus and exam paper formats.

He was finding the normal classroom approach difficult to understand and frustrating. In the online sessions (we were initially concerned that online lessons wouldn't be as effective as face-to-face but this was unfounded with Ruth) Ruth has been able to break things down very effectively and build up his confidence.

Ruth has been totally brilliant whilst tutoring my son in preparation for his GCSE English exams. Ruth is an extremely knowledgeable, engaging and patient tutor. Her communication is wonderful and we couldn't have hoped for a better experience.

Ruth is a very experienced and knowledgeable teacher with a lovely supportive and encouraging style! She is able to ‘re teach’ aspects of English clearly so our daughter can see the wood for the trees and her enthusiasm has helped our daughter connect more with the subject and begin to grown in confidence. My teenage son was really struggling with GCSE English. He had lost all confidence not only in himself, but also in successive teachers ability to understand and support him. After just three weeks, Ruth has turned everything around for him. He now believes that he will be able to reach his target grade, and is developing the knowledge, skills and exam strategies to be able to do so. Ruth has formed a great working relationship with him, and suggested some really smart solutions to focus on making progress in the areas that he needs. Ruth has been quick to respond to all communications, is extremely professional, and has worked hard in providing extra materials and sessions in preparation for mock exams. Quite simply, she’s brilliant!

Ruth made my daughter feel straight at ease with her friendly approach. They discussed goals for meeting predicated / desired grades They agreed the format for the session and what stationary/resources etc would be needed During the sessions Ruth asked thought provoking questions to generate discussion and provide explanation. My daughter enjoys the sessions and her understanding / enjoyment of the subject has improved. This has carried over into school and been recognised by her school English teacher. I would def recommend Ruth

Ruth is a warm and open person who immediately put my son at ease. Her enthusiasm has instilled a confidence about English that I have never seen in my son, who struggles with English as a subject. My son looks forward to his lesson and is becoming positive about sitting the English GCSE exam. For us Ruth is a Godsend!
