Information About Hargun
Toronto tutorPersonal Description:
Hi! I'm Hargun — a current undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics. I have several years of tutoring experience and a passion for helping students build confidence and reach their academic goals.
I specialize in:
Mathematics (from elementary to high school, including algebra, calculus, and data management)
Science (biology, chemistry, and general science)
English and Computer Science basics
My teaching style is patient, personalized, and supportive. I tailor every session to your pace and learning style, whether you're preparing for an exam, catching up on missed concepts, or aiming for top grades.
I also bring experience with both in-person and online tutoring, and I love using simple explanations and interactive tools to make learning clear and enjoyable.
Let’s make learning less stressful — and more empowering!
Tutoring Experience:
I’ve been tutoring for over 4 years, working with students from elementary to high school, including those enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. My tutoring focuses on building strong academic foundations while boosting confidence and motivation.
Private Tutoring: Delivered one-on-one sessions in math, science, and English for students from Grades 3 to 12. Specialized in helping students with IB Math and IB Biology, offering curriculum-aligned support and exam preparation strategies.
IB Program Support: Helped IB students grasp complex concepts, improve their internal assessments, and manage their workload through personalized guidance and structured lessons.
School Board Experience (Monitor/EA): Worked in classrooms through LRS placements, supporting French and general education teachers. Assisted with managing student behavior, explaining concepts, and guiding classwork.
Study Skills Coaching: Provided students with tools for effective study habits, time management, and test preparation — especially for standardized and high-pressure environments.
Many of my students have seen consistent academic improvement, and I strive to create a supportive, motivating space where they can thrive.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is centered around patience, clarity, and confidence-building. I believe every student learns differently, so I take time to understand their unique learning style, strengths, and areas for growth.
I focus on:
Simplifying complex concepts using relatable examples and step-by-step breakdowns
Encouraging questions to create a comfortable, judgment-free space
Setting realistic goals and celebrating small wins to build momentum
Reinforcing fundamentals to create a strong academic foundation
Adapting to pace — whether a student needs fast-paced enrichment or slow, steady review
I believe that when students feel supported and understood, their performance improves naturally. My goal is not just to help students do well in school, but to help them develop the confidence and independence to tackle any academic challenge.
