Personal Description:

Kia ora, everyone!

I am a certified Spanish teacher from Mexico. I am a well-travelled person and love connecting with new cultures.
I am settled in New Plymouth. I love learning and teaching languages, so I want to make it enjoyable for you.

People often ask me how I speak French so well, even though my native language is Spanish. My answer is always "I have studied a lot", but I also always forget to tell them that I did it with passion and love. So no matter what language you are learning, if there is real love and interest, you'll get it!

Also, I lived in Paris twice, first learning the language at the Sorbonne and then studying for one year of my degree in Architecture.

I enjoy learning languages, so I have some knowledge of Italian, Portuguese and, currently I am learning the reo Maori.

Tutoring Experience:

Most of my experience is with adults and teenagers

With me, you will find the confidence to explore the language at your own pace.

As a non-native English speaker, I understand the difficulties of approaching a second language; therefore, I can suggest a range of methods to learn and improve your skills.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important for me is to know your goal so that we can make a plan together that suits your needs and interests. I will help you to feel confident so that we can make good progress together.

Assessing your level through a little conversation is essential to prepare the following lessons as well as to plan the type of resources to use in and outside the class.

I am open to ongoing lessons or just for a short period, like for test preparation or to get some fluency for your next holidays. :)

In the first lesson she finds out what you want to achieve, your current Spanish level and from there tailors the lessons to you. She uses a range of resources through out the lesson to help aid learning with the main focus being on listening and getting you to speak in Spanish yourself.
She is a great teacher and makes the lessons fun.

From John (5/5): I've had 3 lessons so far and it's going really well. Tania is very friendly and easy to get along with. The hour passes so fast and I can ask any questions I might have. Tania was able to guage my level of Spanish very fast and we are building a good learning relationship. She gives me homework to do before the next lesson and it is very helpful to progress my Spanish. Hasta el proximo domingo!

Tania's teaching method is based around meeting the needs of her students and she is prepared to spend time looking for ressources and looking through textbooks to familarise herself with what the student needs to know. The one on one support that Tania provided meant that I felt more confident in my uni French class. Tania pushed me out of my comfort zone and I felt like she was invested in my success. I personally found that I didn't really like the online one-to-one situation, so i didn't continue with the lessons. I wish Tania all the best.

She is adaptable and has made my lessons a mixture of fun (translating songs, writing letters) and foundational work like grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. I’m learning but also having a lot of fun. She is also punctual, organised, communicative and flexible with timing. I give her my highest recommendation.
