I am most grateful to Susan who met me on 1st June, having cycled around ten miles from her home to Chislet church where I used to play the organ until the pandemic caused services to be suspended for a considerable time, meaning that I became extremely out of practice and was not needed, anyway. Susan encouraged me not to give up but unfortunately, because I still work and have little spare time, it has not been possible to follow her advice and I have reverted to self-doubt and some disillusionment about ever playing again. It would be unfair to ask Susan to give up her time if I am unable to practice. I must also apologise to her for not responding sooner I was hoping to be more positive but, to be honest, I think that at the age of 77 it may be wiser to step back graciously. The church can call upon qualified and competent organists from elsewhere (I am only a novice) whenever one is needed. Thank you, Susan, for meeting me, nevertheless. Peter Clark.
