Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Ewa (pronounced "Ever"). I'm new to advertising my lessons here on FirstTutors and so cannot offer any reviews yet, hopefully that will change soon. I offer instrumental lessons on the saxophone (my first study), flute, clarinet, recorder and piano to students of all ages and abilities. My lessons are tailored to each individual's requirements and supported with a focus on instrumental technique, theory, aural skills, musicianship and if desired improvisation.
Tutoring Experience:
I studied music from a very young age, graduating from Goldsmith College, London with a B Mus honors degree and have since accumulated over 30 years of teaching experience.
Summary of my teaching experience to date:
- My first student was when I was 18 and they passed their grade 1 piano exam with distinction under my tutelage.
- My first job teaching piano was at a London secondary school whilst studying at university.
- Post graduation I took on a woodwind teaching post working for the South Bucks Music Service.
- On relocating from London to Northamptonshire I started working for Northants Music and Performing Arts Trust.
- I've taught music theory and have conducted bands and ensembles in both counties.
- My specialisation is in Jazz and Blues, Rock and Pop. However, I am comfortable teaching in all styles.
- I can teach both the ABRSM and Trinity syllabus's to students who wish to take exams.
Tutoring Approach:
I'm not like your typical music teacher. Music is fun! and I like to make learning to play a musical instrument as creative and fun as possible. I have a very strong teaching ethic and in my classes I teach you how to be disciplined in your learning and technique whilst still maintaining that very important element of making it fun. I cover all styles; classical, jazz, rock, pop, folk, blues and funk. I am equally happy to teach those who want to learn for pleasure, either rekindling a previous interest in an instrument or starting afresh as a complete beginner.
I'm happy to teach for any mutually agreed amount of time with the minimum period being 30 minutes.
My preference is to teach from home, however I will consider teaching at another location if the student is prepared to cover my additional time and travel expenses.
