Personal Description:
I’m a professional cellist and experienced teacher based in Muswell Hill. I offer bespoke cello lessons for students of all levels, from dedicated beginners to advanced players preparing for music college or university.
I currently tutor undergraduate music students at King’s College London and trained at the Royal Academy of Music. My performing career has taken me across the UK and Europe as a soloist and chamber musician, with appearances at venues such as Wigmore Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, as well as international residencies and recordings with leading ensembles. Teaching is a vital and nourishing part of my musical life that compliments my performing practice.
I offer individually tailored lessons designed to support each student’s goals, whether that’s developing technique, building confidence, preparing for auditions, or rediscovering the cello as an adult. My teaching philosophy centres on discipline, curiosity, and joy: I help students build effective practice habits, explore musical ideas independently, and feel at ease expressing themselves through performance.
I specialise in:
- Music college and university audition preparation
- ABRSM graded exams
- Chamber music and orchestral coaching
- Supporting adult learners at all stages, including complete beginners and returners
Lessons are available in-person or online, and typically range from 45 to 90 minutes. I’m currently accepting a limited number of new students.
If you’re interested in arranging a trial lesson or learning more, feel free to get in touch.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching is rooted in a student-centred philosophy, with each lesson tailored to the individual’s goals, learning style, and musical aspirations. Whether a student is preparing for conservatoire entry, working through exams, or learning for personal enrichment, I strive to offer a supportive yet disciplined environment that encourages growth and confidence.
A strong technical foundation is essential to musical freedom, and I place equal emphasis on developing secure technique and expressive playing. I help students set meaningful practice goals, build healthy and sustainable practice habits, and plan strategically for their long-term musical development. This includes identifying clear milestones, selecting repertoire that both inspires and challenges, and cultivating the mental focus needed for performance.
Lessons are designed to nurture curiosity, critical thinking, and creative expression. I draw from a wide range of repertoire (classical, contemporary, and beyond) based on each student’s interests, while also encouraging a broad musical outlook. I will also make recording recommendations for listening at home to inspire students' practice.
Communication and trust are central to my approach. I work closely with students and, where appropriate, their parents or guardians to ensure consistent progress and motivation. Regular feedback, clear goal-setting, and attention to the individual’s well-being are all part of the journey.
Ultimately, my aim is to equip each student not only with technical skills, but also with the independence, resilience, and musical insight that can stay with them for life.
