Personal Description:
I am a Japanese musician with 20 years of bass experience and 15 years of piano experience, holding Trinity Grade 8 Distinction on both instruments. I also teach beginner–intermediate guitar. Based in Edinburgh, I offer lessons either at my flat or online(Zoom). In addition to Western music, I can also teach J-Pop and J-Rock, which many students find unique and motivating.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been formally teaching for 2 years, but I have guided around 50 students in the past through a music club. I enjoy working with both children and adults. My teaching covers all levels: from complete beginners to advanced players preparing for exams or focusing on performance.
Tutoring Approach:
My lessons focus on helping students play the music they love. For bass and guitar, this includes popular Western music as well as J-Pop and J-Rock, supported by original practice materials I provide. For piano, I teach up to Trinity Grade 8 level, covering both classical and popular music. While I mainly use established sheet music, I also provide simple exercises to improve note reading. Across all instruments, I include basic music theory to deepen students’ understanding.
I also provide simple setup and adjustment for bass and guitar instruments.
