Personal Description:
I have taught for nearly 30 years, having learnt piano, flute and music theory. I was taught mainly by my (extremely patient) mum, who at 80 years young is still teaching. She is a total inspiration and keeps me on my toes, giving me pieces to practise.
I love to play for pleasure as well as helping pupils reach their specific goals, be it examinations or simply a desire to play a particular piece. I am enthusiastic and passionate about everything I do, and have an eclectic taste in music from Bach through to Billie Eilish and Benson Boone via Beethoven, Bernstein, The Beatles, Blink 182 and Kate Bush.
Tutoring Experience:
Approx 30 years teaching experience with a proven track record of excellent results in piano, flute and music theory. DBS checked.
Tutoring Approach:
Relaxed yet focused on technique. Emphasis on enjoyment and learning to play to a level rather than just specific graded pieces. I have taught to all levels and enjoy teaching students who are willing to learn. I adapt my style to the individual, and encourage their love of music.
