Personal Description:
I am a highly motivated and passionate musician and educator whose music education started at age four. I completed my Bachelor of Music Degree in June 2012 and secondary school teacher training (PGCE and SCITT) in the Havering area in July 2016. As well as teaching, I perform as a soloist and work in group settings such as chamber ensembles, musical theatre bands, and larger ensembles.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 13 years of experience in education, specialising in teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute and piano and music theory as well as KS3/GCSE Music. My exam board of choice is ABRSM and I can prepare young students for the Musical Aptitude Test (MAT) for admission into selected secondary schools.
Tutoring Approach:
I adapt my teaching style to suit individual students and I encourage him or her to have a goal in mind - whether it is to pass a music exam, to become a part of an ensemble, or simply to be able to play their favourite music. I bring my enthusiasm into my teaching to make music-learning fun and enjoyable, and to build self confidence and self motivation to facilitate students’ progress. In the long term, my aim is to give students the tools which will enable them to become independent musicians.
