Ewa, thank you very much for the lessons. I have written this feedback as a review for other students to see. -- Ewa is an extremely professional, friendly, and positive tutor with vast knowledge about piano technique and repertoire. I had lessons with Ewa between October 2020 and May 2021 before moving abroad. During this time I learned: -repertoire by Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Rameau, and Debussy - finger posture and the effects of adjusting the finger angle - how to use touch to control dynamics - active listening while playing - score interpretation according to general customs as well as individual composers' practices - practice organisation for efficient usage of time - how to isolate and drill the hardest bits in a challenging section -ways to make decisions about dynamics when they aren't written in the score -how to divide a complex phrase into logical sections -which moments can be important in a piece and how to show importance to the audience/listener -the importance of ending a phrase softly -matching dynamic levels within a phrase and much more. She helped me to prepare for a Grade 8 performance exam, giving advice about choice of repertoire, choice of editions, and how to manage the different stages of practice for each piece. Importantly, Ewa is very easy to talk to. Whenever I had a question, she took it seriously and gave as thorough an answer as was needed. She would also tell me if she thought I was focusing on something that wouldn't benefit me with my goals, and I found this really helpful. For example, I was curious about advanced music theory. She told me this is a worthy thing to study, but told me would not benefit me much as a piano teacher (I was considering being one), and this was good to know. I really enjoyed my lessons with Ewa. Having had piano lessons before, I can say that she taught me more, and in more detail, than my other teachers. Also, as a bonus, many things I learned from Ewa also apply to other areas of music. For example, the knowledge she gave me about phrases is relevant to singing as well, and I now notice when listening to pop music when a singer does a diminuendo at the end of a phrase! All in all, I can't recommend Ewa highly enough as a piano teacher. She is phenomenal at this job, and it is clearly something she really enjoys as well. If you want lessons with a great, friendly teacher who will make you at ease while encouraging you to achieve the most you can, then you will be very, very satisfied. Thank you very much for all you taught me, Ewa. I wish you all the best!
